I am new to this, so I am REALLY hoping that someone can help me. I used to be able to stream music from my desktop to my XBOX. My desktop has since crashed and I am now using Windows 7 on the new desktop. I am having troubles getting the XBOX to retrieve the data on the XBOX from my when I set up the shared folder. Can some one please help me or have any idea's as to what I might me doing wrong or what I need to do.
Thanks

Re: file streaming
So I have followed the link that was posted here. I am not sure what seems to be happening. I have followed all the direction. I have shared the drive and the folders within the drive. I can get the xbox to see the PC but cannot locate the files. On my PC, my Expansion Drive is (J:). Within my expansion Drive I have 2 main folders. All music and Old music. Under each of those folders I have sub-folders that seperate my music from 70's, 80's etc. So when I go to the xbox. I select Add Source. From there I browse and select Windows Network (SMB). This then brings up the WORKGROUP, Then my PC (OWNER-PC). I select this and it brings up a screen asking for me to enter a user name and password. I have tried two different options here. I have tried the default xbox - xbox, and I have tried no user name and password. Either way it brings me back to the screen that I started the browse on. Below it has a box for me to enter a Name for this Media Source which gets prepopulated with OWNER-PC. Should i be entering in something different. Hope someone can help me. I NEVER had this much trouble with Windows XP
Re: file streaming
Did you get to this part?
5) Disable Passwords (Optional)
The xbox may ask you for a username and password, if this is the case and you don't have them setup simply disable this feature by going to Control Panel>Network & Internel>Choose Homegroup & Sharing Options>Change Advanced Sharing Settings. The second from bottom option should be about Password Protected Sharing, just turn this off.
If you did the above step, then have you rebooted your computer? Then go through the steps again to make sure they "stuck."
Windows 7 is soo much pickier than XP.

Re: file streaming
I have rechecked that this change had stuck and it does show that Password protected sharing is off. I am able to see the WORKGROUP on the xbox. Is it possible that I am naming the files wrong?
