XBMC mod that looks awesome and will help XBMC4XBOX!

Post by Zigawits »

I have had this brilliant idea!

I don't know about everyone here, but i hate that ugly green Xbox logo on the top of my console. Then i got to thinking, why don't i create a sticker with the XBMC logo on it? or better still, why don't we create some of these stickers and sell them not-for-profit all proceeds to go towards XBMC4XBOX to help admin costs and such?

To get everything we have for free and on a cheap system (i got mine for £5) with such AMAZING features and not give back? Outrageous and happens too often.

Plus, i have to say again - that green sticker looks terrible and completely out of place.

Let me know what you all think (admins do please message me!) and lets give back in a way that will benefit us too!

Just from what I've heard, that ugly green "sticker" doesn't let go without a pain in the ass of some sort. IIRC, soaking it in gasoline before scrubbing/scraping away the decal was the easiest way. There may be other ways that don't involve chemicals or solvents as well. But nobody cares. Half of people don't understand they can do anything with an Xbox1 anyway. My local trade-in gaming shop sells tested unopened Xbox1s for US$25, and there are like 40 sitting there.

If I were to help with this idea any way, I would suggest we do a "lids" exchange - whereby we take smart steps like creating a "how to help" page detailing removal of the top cover. From there it gets too difficult to even need 10 or 20 of said XBMC decal stickers for DIY people. Most people can't both be software and hardware nerds at the same time.

Now, we just find out what it costs to ship only the cover. Somebody willing to take on 5 or 10 non-functional Xbox1 shells and manage a little promotional charity will be needed. I have an extra lid I can donate to server cost or something if somebody would buy it.

Make the print no less than 600DPI and hopefully onto something translucent for a LED glow through.

On second thought, you lost me. Wont work ://

Stickers have been made in the past and looked ok but there is room for error when applying them. It really does look best to change the color of the jewel with paint, that way you get the depth of the plastic with paint under it. Making an XBMC logo however would be a bit tougher to pull off. I wish some of those custom jewel makers were still around.
