If you're referring to the XBMC4Xbox Remote app for Android in my signature, it is unlikely that will work properly with Kodi, at least the part that interogates for data. The main reason for that is that XBMC4Xbox still uses an older HTTP communication framework (Web Server HTTP API) which was removed from Kodi and replaced with JSON-RPC API (see note in their wiki page). That is the reason for the 404 (Not Found) error. I don't think FTP server was ever an option for non-Xbox versions of XBMC and later on Kodi.

There's a lot more to choose from when it comes to Kodi remote apps, indeed most have moved on from supporting older Android versions, "Yatse, the Kodi / XBMC Remote" seems to be quite popular and says it works with Android 2.2.
