Hello! To sum up:
1) Can I xboxhdm C and E directory with evoxdash.xbe to a new hdd and xbox will boot my custom dash directly?
(I changed my bios some time ago and it was booting xbmc4xbox directly)
(I have eeprom.bin but my box is chipped anyway)
2) Will xboxhdm 2.2 read my IDE hdd from an ide-usb adapter connected to my pc's usb port?
I'd have to buy this adapter just to do that.
My config: Xbox 1.5 chipped, dvd drive dead, original xbox hdd dead.
PC: Inconstant ide port (I think molex killed my dvddrive and other hdd attached to it. It smelled and the drives seems dead). So that's why I'm trying to use some new settings.
xboxhdm evoxdash directly and ide-usb question

Re: xboxhdm evoxdash directly and ide-usb question
xboxhdm will only work with native ide ports or xboxhdm2 with port emulation I don't think a usb to ide will work.
Is there any chance you could borrow a cd drive or repair it as it would be the simplest idea, or get someone to format the drive and install a dash?
The problem you may come across if the dvd drive is dead you may not be able to boot if you don't have a bios without the no dvd trick installed on your chip.
I'm guessing you don't have a fancy chip with an os and be able to format and ftp from there ?

First, How xboxhdm2 port emulation work? Is there some way to use a FAT-X explorer to copy the C/E and dashboard files to this new hdd?
I have an alladin chip. The thing is my xbox dvddrive is not working but it is not in fact dead. The xbox turns on wok, the only thing is that it can't read any cd/dvd and the tray won't open alone.

Re: xboxhdm evoxdash directly and ide-usb question
as the dvd drive is not dead you could try pot tweaking to get it to read a dvd ?
in xboxhdm2 it emulates the master ide channel on another port or something like that it wont work with a usb to ide adaptor, someone more savy in Linux may be able to offer more insight on that or if it could be modified to work.
fat explorer party buffalo etc cant partition a xbox hdd but they can read/write it if you could partition it somehow, maybe an image of a working hdd would work I don't know.

You didn't take out the DVD.xbe in the modded bios did you?.teforeon wrote:Hello! To sum up:

dvd drive dead,
All you need to do even with a slim is take out "check DVD". This way the DVD will still work should one be plugged in and a disc told to play. If you take out DVD.xbe, the DVDrive will never work with that bios. If this is the case you may be able to re-flash the bios using EvoXDash to get it reading DVDs again.
