The Xbox works just fine and I can establish an FTP connection with little difficulty, however I only have access to the F drive on the Xbox and it won't give me root access. From the filer manager I deduce that XBMC is installed on the C drive, so this is a bit of a problem if I want to update it. I searched the forum for a solution to this, and one of the ideas proposed (which seemed to work for some people) was to "Add Source" a shortcut to the C drive in file manage which may let me access it from my FTP client. Unfortunately, XBMC won't let me add a source without knowing the master code...
The person I got the Xbox off has no idea what the mastercode is so that isn't an option. All the solutions to removing the master code require me to access XBMC .xml files which I obviously don't have access to.
Holding White+Y doesn't do anything on startup, and holding the two thumbsticks reset the settings but not the master code (which is to be expected)
So my questions are;
1) Any ideas on how I might gain root access?
2) Any ideas on how I might remove the master code without obtaining root access?
3) Any ideas on how to update XBMC without root access?
Any help is appreciated
