HELP ME PLEASE

I updated my Xbox to 3.5 earlier today, it installed correctly but I couldn't set it as the default dash so I just booted into 3.3.3 and from there into file manager then into 3.5 until I tried to play a game that I burned (most of my games are burned) the game wouldn't load it said DVD so I just tried another game, no look. At this point I knew something was wrong and I set into the settings and I messed something up and now I can't get the xbox to connect to the TV,the xbox turns on but the lights are orange and theres no signal on the TV.

UPDATE: I've luckily have a stock Xbox (my one from when I was younger) and I tried that and it didn't work so I wiggled around the AV cable and it flickered. I'll try it on my Soft Modded Xbox now, fingers crossed.

XBMC shouldn't have any effect on whether a DVD backup plays.

Did you change anything else? Are you softmod or otherwise?

It's soft modded, it won't even play original copies, is there any way to just completely reset XBMC? thanks for replying!

It depends not with xbmc. It is a soft mod based problem. When xbmc loads press both thumb sticks to go into recovery (I mean this is the combination for it) I have never tested it before.

Oh god I feel like such a noob it was the optical drive, I put the one from my old xbox in it and it worked grand, Can I put any optical drive in it or does it have to be specific because i want to put one from an old pc in it.

You can put any IDE dvd drive into the Xbox set to slave.

There are drawbacks to doing so.

Original games will no longer function.
Doesn't look as nice unless you stick the original tray front onto the new drive.

The PC drive will read burnt media fine.

Also note there are specific drive that can be flashed to read originals. (Also requires, on one at least, reversing the drawer open motor)
