Title says it. I'm thinking Salvage ram chips from them and do a 128mb ram upgrade (single pins at a time ftw!)
What else? Appearantly they have errors or dvd tray problems, so maybe a chip could fix that. who knows until I get them. Any other suggestions?
So I bought 3 broken Xboxes. Wat do.

+1 for the ram upgrade... but if you bent the pins while unsoldering them.. good luck soldering them.
Heres the 2 best way to remove the chip:
You should hope to get 1 or 2 working machine. DVD drive are pretty easy to clean/ fix-up.
Just TSOP them, if their original DVD drive is not working (therefore not allowing them to boot) just use a working one from another machine.
BTW all my personnal machines are 128MB
, i had a thread on the old forum with a bunch of detail on how i do it..
If you need any soldering info/ tutorial... forget about "xbox ram upgrade".. search for professional soldering video.. youtube xbox ram upgrade video are ridiculous LOL.
like that:
Also, a Slim would be a good idea.

yeeeeeeaaaaah i'm a little on the broke side after i bought them, so no expensive preheating and reballing and soldering and desoldering stations for me lol, just desoldering braid/soldersucker, flux, and a hell of a lot of care and patients.

Chipquick cost like 15$.. you can do 2 or 3 upgrades. and a hot air station can be found for about 100$, nothing fancy there (i dont have one my self, i want one).
And sorry.. i should specify to forget about the preheat station

I have a hot air station but found it was easier to use a heat gun from the opposite of the mobo to remove the ram chips, i could use the hot air to attach but i think i should have a trial run first on either a broken mobo or some other pcb.
I had another score today, picked up 7 x consoles ( 1x crystal ), 7 x controllers (1x wireless logitech), 1 x dvd remote set and 4 sets of power /av cables. In the consoles 1 is chipped and 1 is tsopped - the lot for $50

That's a damn fine score mate. Might need to find a deal like that myself soon, seem to be getting low on xboxes.

Ill upload pics later
Box 1: DirtyDisk Error(SEMIFIXED: Tiny peice of dust on the mirror, loads games, then when try to actually play, it fails, dvd drive spins up and down alot). RF shield is a little rusted but, Other than that, works fine and is very VERY clean inside, might have to chip it and then make it a slim. Its a 1.1 and been opened before, but no signs of any mod. (no screws in it)
Box 2:RF shield Severely rusted, Sticky DVD tray, Plays games fine, Never been opened (until now), Version 1.6
Box 3:No visible RF shield rust, Dirty disk error, never opened(until now), Version 1.4/1.5 (cant test the lpc)
But they all work, to some extent, and i may be able to fix the dirtydisk errors
so i have no idea what to do with em becasue i dun wanna destroyem :/
help needed on which one to destroy

I forget if the 1.6 motherboards have Samsung or Hynix ram chips (I know that 1.6b motherboards have Hynix, which can't be used in 1.1-1.5) but if your 1.6 motherboard has Samsung chips, then I would say to use that one for harvesting. If the 1.6 chips are Hynix, then harvest from the 1.4/1.5. I would definitely keep the 1.1 intact since if you wanted to flash the TSOP, it would give you the most options.

yeah i was thinking that since the 1.6(yes samsung ram) is useless for upgrades or tsop, id harvest it. then if possible, use its working dvd drive in either the 1.4/1.5 or 1.1, and then just have to fix 1 dvd drive, and use the 1.6 for solder/desolder training
