Winter camping

Post by bigkidoz »

Went camping in the bush with 34 other Land Rover tragics on the weekend , it was meant to be cold but overnight temp on Saturday was minus 6.7c :o . Coldest i have ever experienced even having lived in the UK (and Scotland) for 3 years.
I was pretty warm with my sleeping bag inside another sleeping bag trick and also had my Staffy x Lab with me for a large hot water bottle. We had a huge fire that ran all weekend, 3.5m x 1m in size and roasted lamb, beef and pork on spits over the fire.
Good weekend and hope to be more prepared next year.
It snowed Friday night but luckily i was still at home then :)

Looks like an excellent time you had BKO. I was in Canberra last week for work and it was cold. The farm is recording -6c daily and I'm going down next week for the week. Where did you go on that trip anyway. Looks like the high country but where exactly was it?

Near Daylesford Steve, altitude is less than 500m but still got snow.
