Hi
I've bought controllers for Xbox recently, and I got for free broken 1.0 console.
It's fragging. I have no idea what's wrong. It has no signs of human's work (like modchips, etc., but it was disassemblied). Firstly, I've tried 3-wire trick, secondly I've installed Aladdin with M8+ and SmartXX, thirdly I cut off broken capacitor (time&date), and console is still fragging!
Any ideas?

any sighns of water spots (getting wet)?
you could also test the regulators?
it does not sound good but i guess it could be a faulty eeprom i dont know if it frags if it is corrupted?
Could be the eeprom like blighty says, also check the TSOP points on the mobo to see if maybe someone messed up flashing the TSOP or pulled pad.

Debug kit untouched

Has anyone Flashbios 3.03 Unauthorized? I've read it could be used to re-flash corrupted eeprom.
I`ve heard of people who held paperclips over jumpers whilst flashing in the past so it is possible that you wouldn't see any evidence of a mod gone wrong.
Do you have any other xbox's you can swap parts with? I would throw another psu in there to eliminate that if you can.
I read that a pal box booting in ntsc land will give a massive headache. ( I havn't had a tv that wasn't multi region for over ten years so i have no idea about this one.)
worst case senario: you have four ram chips there for a 128mb upgrade
