XBMC4XBOX and x264

Post by Cissoubaka »

hello,

Did one of you some benchmark with the x264?

Which resolution, which bit rate is accepted by the processor of the xbox?

Bunch of threads on the forums about it, although no one can provide you with a definite guide, you'd have to try it for yourself and see which one works best for you.

Some like to go higher frame dimensions, some like to go higher bitrate for more detail or fast moving pictures - obviously you have to always find a balance between them, to keep either file size or CPU/memory required for decoding under control.

X264 seems to work fine up to 1280x720. I have some BOB encodes of Boardwalk Empire at that res in MKV containers and work great. I have some other MKV (x264) that were done at 1466x920 and just crash or constantly need to buffer
