I have 2 old xboxs here that the HDD died before I could get a backup of the eeprom. Any way to fix with out a mod chip?
No tsop mod was done either.
Many thanks
Paul

Xbox eeprom reade:

Overpriced if you ask me(cost more than a aladdin XT) but it's a solution that requires no soldering; if you don't have 1.0/1.1 motherboard (plugs in the LPC port). You'll be able to read your eeprom content and generate a new locked HDD using XboxHDM.
You also need a serial port on your PC. I don't know if USB-RS232 adapter work with this device.
If you have time and the will to solder, you can make that programmer yourself. It's basically a I2C serial programmer. Here's a example of how simple the circuit is:
You just need to concentrate on R1,R2,Z1,Z2 (and the serial port connector of course). Use 1K resistors and 3.3V (or 3.0V if you don't find 3.3V) zener diodes.
For the rest, have a looksy here : http://rex.xbox-scene.com/I2C/i2c-prog.html
SCL is on LPC pin 13
SDA is on LPC pin 14
SCL and SDA must use 3.3V logic level.

Re: HDD died....
I bought 1 of those EEPROM reader last week & it works great, less hassle than soldering & getting the parts.
Also came with a few things, that weren't listed.
So all in all I fixed an 1.6 with a 1.1 Tsop flashed to it.
& now I can arse about with EPROMs & not brick any console
(I now have an EEPROM for each xbox type all nulled so everything works in each one. HDD & saves.

Excellent idea. Presumably you just set the s/n to be the same value in all you boxes (all zeros?), or is there more to it...?Rocky5 wrote:I now have an EEPROM for each xbox type all nulled so everything works in each one. HDD & saves.

Re: HDD died....
I did zero the hdd key once or twice before master passwords wer set with the usual tools and it works but if you pop in a chip you dont need to worry about keys.spicemuseum wrote:Excellent idea. Dont use the same eeprom on another box as you get network problems if they all have the same mac address.
Re: HDD died....
Me lol I was setting them all to the same values, but you can't even use the EEPROM.cfg from a 1.0/5 on an 1.6.spicemuseum wrote:Whoa!Rocky5 wrote:I fixed an 1.6 with a 1.1 Tsop flashed to it.How's that work, then?
The v1.6 eeprom is ordered differently to the rest, HDD key is in a different place or something. (so my kids new v1.6 was bricked lmao, just out the box & i fecked it)
I set the HDD Key to 32 "0" & the serial to 12 "0" then I use the same online key & MAC address for all xboxs, so all games that require that key work, same for the HDD key.spicemuseum wrote:Excellent idea. (Mac address info - my xbox is the only one connected to the net, the kids one is only connected when I need to update XBMC4Kids, so there is no IP/MAC conflict)
It would seem you can't use the same Confounder serial. (Well if you can liveinfo beta3 want allow it)
