Hello all, I am excited to try out the updated XBMC on my Xbox's. The only issue I have is with one of my xbox's its been soft modded and is running just XBMC. When it turns on it goes right into XBMC no other dashboards. So how would I get rid of the original XBMC over FTP and install the New XBMC4Xbox? You can't just delete the old files and install the new ones over ftp can you? I saw some of the other install videos and they say to use a 2nd dashboard to do this so not quite sure what to do.
Thanks for reading, can't wait to try this out!
Removing XBMC and Installing XBMC4Xbox
Re: Removing XBMC and Installing XBMC4Xbox
Weirdly I knackered a box the other day doing what you're describing. yes it's a simple case of overwriting new files and structure with new but don't be in xbmc at the time as it will corrupt as files will be in use.
it was fixable anyway and then I tried again but made sure I was in dvd2xbox that time - no probs at all.
now just need to get my humax upnp working although noone here was able to help

So what you are saying is to install another dashboard load it up from the programs in XBMC then access through FTP overwrite the main dir then reboot?
Re: Removing XBMC and Installing XBMC4Xbox
Its been said many times in the past, But yes install another dash like Unleashx or evox, to a folder like e:/dash for example, then launch it from the File Manager/Browser in xbmc since it wont always show up under the Programs section of xbmc. Just navigate to the folder you installed the dash to and launch the default.xbe ( e:/dash/unleashx/default.xbe). For faster ftp transfers I prefer to use Unleashx, but you need to change the Maximum simultaneous connections from 2 to 10 in the Unleashx network settings menu then select save changes but they wont take effect until you re-launch Unleashx, Next you need to set your FTP Client (Filezilla) on your pc to use more connections. In filezilla its under Preferences>Transfers, Change the simultaneous connects to 9 not 10 because the 10th connection is actually the communication connection to the xbox and you want to use the other 9 to transfer the actual files. The only other thing you should ALWAYS set your ftp client to use is the Binary transfer mode, in filezilla its under Preferences>File Types.
Good Luck
