Trouble FTPing with XBMC
Trouble FTPing with XBMC
Hi, I recently upgraded my hard drive to 500gb. Since then I've had access to the F: drive, but when I try to put any folder in the partition I get a strange problem. Let's say I wanted to add a folder Music to the F drive for example. It should look like this when transferred /F:/Music/ and when its opened. Now here is my problem, when it is transferred over and I get the /F:/Music/ I get the same folder inside of it ex: /F:/Music/Music/Music/Music/Music/Music/Music/Music
It goes on for a while and don't know how to fix this. Did I clone my drive incorrectly or something? I'd like to get this problem fixed but I ran out of options and require the council of other Xbox users.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
Did you either A: format your F partition with XBPartitioner 1.3, or B: clone your original drive with CHIMP 2618? If no then that's probably your answer - partitions larger than ~250GB require formatting with newer tools that support larger cluster sizes.
Have you checked the cluster size on the F partition?
I'll dig out posts on all three topics when I get in from work, unless someone else can help before then.
How is your Xbox modded?
p.s. Advice is counsel.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
I used Chimp 2618. I don't know how to check the cluster size so that might be a problem. Another thing I noticed is that my F drive is only 120gb while I have over 350gb left. I don't have the problem I listed on the first post on the other drives I've tested. Thank you for assisting me in my time of need.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
That's worrying - at 120GB you shouldn't see any corruption as a result of cluster size problems.
It sounds as though the easiest solution is to use XBPartitioner 1.3 to reformat your F partition, and make it use the whole of the rest of the drive.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
I just FTP'ed it to my drive and it says,
"LBA48 info not found! Custom partitions will not work with this Bios! Update your Bios to one which supports at least LBA48 version 2. "
Now I did some browsing online and am wondering if there is a non soldering way to flash the bios on a softmod.. Also how can I tell which xbox bios I have?

Ya I did it years ago I don't really remember much. I'm just now entering back into modding so I'm familiar with things just don't have a definite grasp on things.
Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
I used the formatter despite what the warning said.. I know how to fix it if it corrupts. Now I no longer have the multiple folder problem. I'm transferring one of my backups and going to test if it will actually work. Now the less important but still important question. I have a 500gb drive and the formatter only recognized 120gb of storage space. How can I fix this? Do I have to activate the G:/ drive?
Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
I used Mechassult and an action replay I don't really remember what else. and if youre referring to the formatter as the one I mentioned in the post it was the XBPartitioner 1.3
The game is also functioning. Just wondering about the space dilemma.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
It sounds as though you have a really old softmod, which is why you are only seeing 120GB on the F partition. Grab a copy of HeXEn (Google Heimdall's Xbox Engineering Disc), burn it to DVD-R at 4x or slower, cold boot with it, and use it to install a clean copy of Krayzie 1.1.1 - option 2.2.4 or 2.2.7 depending on whether your Xbox was originally PAL or NTSC.
Once it's finished run XBPartitioner 1.3 to format the extended space as a single F partition.
Edit: If you want a completely clean installation, follow the guidance in this post:

I burnt HeXen to the dvd-r and I tried cold booting but It would just take me to dashboard so I tried to open from there and its just loading an image of unleashX and cut out... no menu or anything.. Should I try to re burn a disk? I went at 2X.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
Does the LED turn red when HeXEn boots? Are you burning the iso file as an image? I'm guessing that the answer to both of those questions is "no"....
If your DVD burning software doesn't support iso image burning then try using DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, because that definitely works. 4x is fine, but 2x should also work.

Yes The light was red and I burned it as an iso... I use IMGBurn and it has never given me problems in the past.

Re: Trouble FTPing with XBMC
That's odd. If the LED turns red then the DVD is being read properly......
Just to confirm, what colour is the LED when the Xbox boots normally?
How long does it take for the UnleashX screen to appear after the LED has turned red? Not that it really matters - it's not working, so try burning another DVD.

Hey, sorry for the late response. I have a busy schedule and I'm just letting you know that I fixed all the problems we've discussed and I owe you my gratitude. I just need to figure out where to find a recent build of XBMC because mine is outdated and why settle for less haha. Thank you again.
