I Never had seen this video before and I have run accross three xbox's now in a row with this issue. I will have to give this a try on them.

I forgot to say thanks for this video mate, I tried it out on one of my sticking DVD drives and it worked excellent. I didn't have any alcohol handy so just tried washing it in water and that fixed the problem - still running fine but as soon as it goes again I'll try the alcohol trick.

I suggest also cleaning DVD drive and lubricating tray.

The acetone did not work for me. So I cleaned and lubricate the drive and it works flawless now.
And I only have this problem with Samsung drives.

Hey, this is great!
I used to have this problem with my drive, too. A workaround I found was to never close the drive empty. Leaving always a DVD inside made mine to never stick on opening (still I need to give it a little push when closing it). Perhaps this trick will work on other's drive...

I have suffered from this several times, and while this tut is good I have always been an advocate of less work
You can easily get the tray to open by flicking the front of it with your finger a couple of times right after you press the "open tray" button. At that point I take a Q-tip and squirt some germ-x (hand sanitizer) on it and clean the rubber band while it's still in the xbox, pulling and pushing the drive to make sure it gets all the way around and behind the band and onto the pully (easier than removing the thing cuz I'm lazy).
