XBOX FTP error uploading

Post by dieselboyx »

I am having a problem uploading anything to my XBOX. I am able to log into the XBOX and view the drive letters and directories. I can copy files from the XBOX to my PC, but as soon as I try to upload anything I get a failed transfer error. Is this a hardware defect or is there a setting that I need to change?

I am able to transfer to the C: partition, but anything I try to upload on E: fails.

553 Unable to create this directory; error code

This is what happens when I transfer a file to E:

Is there enough room in E to transfer anything? Also try using a different dashboard or reseting your FTP program and see how that goes. I suggest Avalaunch or DVD2XBOX dashboards for faster file transfers.

I believe it does, and I even deleted a folder. I was only trying to upload a small text file and even that failed. There must be something wrong with the E: partition because I can copy files to C:

Sounds little odd like maybe there is some data corruption with the drive perhaps. I would rebuild the hard drive with an Auto-installer disc like Hexen or Slayers and see how it acts after youv'e done that. What size drive are you using?

It is the original hdd that came with the Xbox. I never upgraded it because I used burned backups instead of copying them to the internal.

How much space do you have left on C and E? E might be maxed out and that's why it wont let you transfer anything, I think it stops when you have 40MB's free space left. Also since it's the factory drive you might only be able to fit only one xbox game on there, maybe too if you have a small one like Marvel Vs. Capcom 2.
