It has been a while since I have done this.
But I want to prep a HDD for a softmod using my modchipped xbox.
I am a bit stuck on the locking part with eeprom from softmod.
I want to use ConfigMagic for that, but how?
Or can it be done with X3 Config Live?

I've always used the Slayer's disc to "unlock" the HDD. I think EvoXDash Utilities also has the provision. I've never used ConfigMagic to do it.

No thats not what he ask xman, he want to lock the HDD from lets say Xbox A (hardmoded) to use it in Xbox B (softmmoded).
I think Config-Magic and XboxHDM can do this. Using the EEPROM.bin from the softmoded Xbox.

Re: How to Upgrade HDD for softmod using a modchipped xbox?
Thanks Xphazer, but I found this outdated tutorial
Could someone verify the steps or make some changes in the steps?
As I did not reboot (step 7), I locked it al in step 6.
And what about step 10. Does this mean that you overwrite the chipped xbox with the eeprom from the softmod?
How is this possible? I thought it writes only the eeprom on the HDD.

Is this true?config magic is a very powerfull tool and you should never use it on softmodded xbox, unless you know what your doing.
using config magic on chipped xbox is safer, as long as your chip supports the backup and retoration of eeprom, cause if it doesn't bye bye xbox, and buy a new one.
Re: How to Upgrade HDD for softmod using a modchipped xbox?
what version is the softmodded xbox? does the old hdd still work? have you not considered tsop'ing it (providing its not a v1.6)?
look here for the solder points depending on your xbox.... https://home.comcast.net/~admiral_power ... solder.htm
solder the 2 lots of points, stick old hdd back inand install unleashx and evox. find something like M8+ bios and flash that using evoX or Gentoox ShALLaX Loader v6.03c depending on your chip type. then run unleashx click settings then click storage scroll down to where it says security unlocked and click on it. this will then give you the option to lock the hard drive
sounds quite complex but it really is not! plus once you tsop'ed your xbox will be just as good as your chipped one
will be able to boot any locked or unlocked hdd from any xbox.
or if you got the eeprom just use xboxhdm build a iso and burn it, then boot it in pc with new hdd connected and lock it that way
all the best
