xbmc4xbox 3.3
xbmc4xbox 3.3
well after several days playing i must say 3.3 is very very smooth, it also seems to have had a rocket shoved up its arse lol i would say to me it seems to be 8-10% quicker loading menus now you may think thats not much but it is, im using a custom pm3 hd and it feels rapid and i like it!
i only use my box for playing games (xbox, snes, megadrive, n64) and movie25 and stream all this, even the video addons load faster.
to all involved congratulations on one HELL of an update! you will have to do something pretty major now to even temp me to consider changing builds now lol
many thanks again for all the time you have sacrificed and hard work you have put in to one awesome project
all the best

That would be too easy. Plus all the information is out there (Hint, I work on a public source respository - commit history is available for reading)

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
I agree, 3.3 runs amazing. loving the new skin. primewire running great right out of the box
The only thing is I miss the black buttons queue list, but buzz has already fixed that (awesome) so now I'm literally on the edge of my seat waiting for 3.3.1. I can't remember the last time I have been so anxious for a software update. I use xbmc4xbox more than all other app's combined on my xbox. I'd go as far as to say XBMC4XBOX is the only reason (besides emus) that I even give a crap about my xbox.
I read the comments on the repository page. I honestly had no idea so much coding was done every day to the source. Buzz really is working hard on this and I for one appreciate it alot.

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
Fantastic release. 3.3 has to be the best yet.
I have to agree with all the previous comments it's fast and smooth!
Well done buzz and the team, it's a great piece of work. And thank you very, very much.
I've noticed the recent commits too, whoop, whoop!

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
For those that didn't work it out, I've been implementing python 2.7 (2.7.5 to be exact). Struggled with some problems with sqlite3 and the openssl library. Just squashed the openssl one, which has taken me rather longer than I hoped. Seems to be working mostly ok now. I'll probably merge it back intro trunk from the development branch tomorrow.
What it means for end users, is some addons from xbmc will be more likely to work out of the box (youtube for example). Including logging in to your youtube account etc.
It also means that if/when I decide to look into adding proper addons support, we can switch right over to using xbmc's repositories (no promises on the timeline for this, but it is my plan).

Thank you Buzz and everyone else who has worked on xbmc4xbox builds, I use it all the time and wouldn't think of using anything else as my default dash.

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
A little ot but since i loaded 3.2 R31195 (yes i'm a little behind) i have noticed that what was once a flaky sandisk cruzer 4gig flashdrive now works consistently transferring files over USB, previously it was hit and miss whether it would be detected and mounted or not. Time to try out 3.3 i think.

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
I just watched a HD mp4 video from a flashdrive and it didnt buffer once, usually bright daylight scenes would cause buffering every minute or so .

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
XBMC4Xbox is not running on top of a complete OS.
Nothing can be done for those. The HID driver is used for mouse /keyboard. Its not possible to just "add drivers".
Same with the wireless adaptors, nothing can be done, only the M$ adaptor can work.
And the emulators have nothing to do with XBMC4Xbox, if you want a keyboard or a mouse to work with X emulator, it would need to work /be added with X emulator, not XBMC4Xbox.
Also, USB 1.0 = 1.5Mb/s ~ 0.18MB/s.
Solution: Get a compatible keyboard and mouse and get a wireless bridge.

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
I have thoughts about the keyboard issue, and a few things you could try to troubleshoot. I don't bother worrying about a working mouse (at least not in XBMC) because many skins don't even bother to add support. This could be for better or worse; It stands to reason that mouse features would impact CPU performance. RAM/FreeMem concerns may be present, as well. I've seen various members of this forum musing on about mouse support, however. Hopefully you can dig it up (check the Skins Development forum?) or somebody who knows better can advise.
The keyboard troubleshooting might include...
- See if the USB adapter is detected by your PC's BIOS, i.e. *before* your OS loads (any boot menu would do)
- Try a wired keyboard - perhaps your USB mod or the port itself is damaged
- I'd recommend keyboards that run RF instead of Bluetooth. Like was mentioned by another person, if the keyboard/wireless dongle are capable of syncing to other dongles or devices, it probably won't work. Instead, choose one that comes as a unique set. I'm positive there are a number of low-end options and off-brand manufacturers doing it this way.
- This is speculation - but try something very simple. If the keyboard routes a bunch of media functions/programmable buttons etc, its likely to incorporate some "extra" requisite for compatibility in our case. Anything beyond volume controls the standard playback controls is overkill.
Maybe, however, there is support in XBMC4XBOX for us to program shortcut keys, etc, using extended media functions. Can anybody advise if this concerns compatibility at all? I realize it is HID, but I know very little the technical implications of that.
For wireless networking, I just do what comes natural and take from my excessive pile of routers. I re-purpose by setting it as a wireless client and hook the ethernet up to bridge a connection for the XBOX. If you don't have enough experience in networking I'll be happy to help you.

Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
This build seems to be working great. Good work as always BuZz. Still testing all features but seems to be quite rock solid and fast. What will you do next to improve on this platform you have taken so far from when you took over? Maybe we should all put in some suggestions on that question?. Would this be a fine way to help you out and give you a couple of ideas to ponder on or would it simply be a pain in the arse with a collection of silly ideas to discount. I can't see it being "bad' to have ideas to shoot down in flames but then again, you may pick up a good one or too. What are your thoughts?.
Re: xbmc4xbox 3.3
Lads can anyone tell me if the option to hide background fanart has been removed from the Confluence skin? I am not a lover of Confluence Lite - I prefer Confluence but I always found it performed much better with the fanart background disabled - can't seem to find that option any longer. Cheers
