XBMC seems broken but...

I softmodded 2 xboxes with a min install of UnleashX. I downloaded XBMC 3.3 source, compiled and moved the build output to the xbox. But nothing seems to really work! I can play DVDs but there are no apps, no emulators etc and even the weather section isn't saving the change. I'm kind of lost. I think the build is bad but I really don't know where to find a working build. Help?

Thank you for that, now at least weather works! I'm still unable to get any plugins working. They install, but when run they all show an error except (so far) GMAIL which opens but freezes the system. I'm wondering if this is a config issue with where things are saved?

Are you installing plugins from the XBMC4XBOX Addons repository? Most main branch addons do not work on xbox but alot have been converted to work with xbox and they are in the XBMC4XBOX repo. And I don't see Gmail in the XBMC4XBOX repo.
