Hi
I'm hoping some kind soul can provide me a little advice. Apologies if this is in the wrong place.
I have looked into this extensively, googled, looked here (inc the large drive tutorial), youtube etc.
This is where I'm at:
Softmodded using Splinter Cell
Then XBOXHDMaker
Install my 2TB Barracuda via SATA
Ran AID Installer and XBPartitioner 1.3 to create approx. 2 x 900gb volumes based 64k chunks for F and G
Set XBMC as my dashboard.
It all works fine excepts I get a lot of dashboard error 13 and 21 when I turn it on (maybe 60% of the time), which I'm attributing to the hdd detection spin up speed. Eventually if I leave it and turn it off and on it will boot to my XBMC.
I've been looking into slowing the boot process down - in particular the BIOS boot order. However I'm a little lost.
Firstly can I edit the BIOS on my 1.6 softmod (I've read somewhere that you can't)?
I've ran BIOS Checker on the Xbox - but is says its unknown?
I've tried a number of tools via Windows (such as XBTool, EVTool) to open the BIOS.BIN file (also tried EEPROM.BIN) but it complains about not being able to open the kernel.
I'm not overly clear what I need to do - I presume if it would have opened I could have edited the order and replaced ftp. Nothing clear I can find on the site or google.
What is the best way to slow it down and how do I go about doing it on a 1.6 softmod xbox?
Other than that it works a treat (once its booted). Any advice will be hugely appreciated.
Thanks you
Matt

Re: 2TB Drive, SoftMod 1.6 Crystal - Advice
I have a trusty old 2 tb segate barry drive in a softmod machine and to over come the problem of some times not booting i placed xbmc on e drive with the shortcut on e drive pointing to my build of xbmc.
but of note i used the team uix shortcut tool as it seems to work better than the xbmc one.
I also switched the cd drive to a samsung one as i think the tompson one gave aditional errors.
you cant edit the bios in a softmod in the traditional sence as it is soft booted from an expliot the onboard bios on a 1.6 cant be flashed so a mod chip may be on the cards to help by allowing you to add custom fake boot paths.
i have looked at using the 12v line on the xbox when powered to hold the xbox reset line low holding up the hdd boots up the let it go.

Re: 2TB Drive, SoftMod 1.6 Crystal - Advice
Thanks Prof.
I have another xbox which is hard modded with an Xcutioner 2 chip and X2 bios. Would it be better to swap the drives over putting the 2tb in the hard modded one?
I'm getting the errors more and more now - out of 20 reboots I may get to dashboard once. I'm not sure if its now got more to do with the PATA - SATA card. Its a HNX board.
What PATA - SATA board would you recommend with a Barracuda 2tb?
thanks
