Well first of all, you'll need to give a location. You'll want to find somebody close since shipping is expensive.
Otherwise you could buy a softmod kit? Burn a DVD and prepare XBMC/etc on the stock drive.
HDD upgrades are possible once you rescue your eeprom. After that, perhaps, you could be shipped a prepared locked drive ready for running off your Xbox.
This is of course given you can softmod it your self.
Just some thoughts, lots of possibilities out there with chips & TSOP's ready for flashing.
