Help with running XBMC on debug kit
Help with running XBMC on debug kit
When I try launching the default.xbe for XBMC from the XDK launcher, I get an error. I've even compiled a debug build of XBMC myself to try to get it to work. I've tried using dexbe .5 to set the file so that the debug kit would boot it. The only way I can load XBMC is to use Retail Game Loader to load it, but it should be able to work without using the RGL since I compiled it using the XDK. Can anyone help me out here? What am I doing wrong?
Re: Help with running XBMC on debug kit
The error is "An error occurred loading an Xbox executable".

Re: Help with running XBMC on debug kit
By default a debug-kit wont be able to run unsigned (m$ official) XBE's.
You need to install Hack-DevKiT Bios V2. Its pretty much the same as a softmod, it load an hacked bios at boot.

Have a look at the readme.
Keep in mind you will face a couple limitations using this machine for XBMC4Xbox.
Be careful with this baby
... Don't ever flash the TSOP (it would kill it) or use a chip (it wouldn't work).

Re: Help with running XBMC on debug kit
I was under the impression that anything compiled with the XDK would work on a stock debug. How else would developers be able to work on their games?
I have an X3 chipped xbox as my primary, so the debug is safe from mods. Same goes for the developer kit I own.

Re: Help with running XBMC on debug kit
So the developers where not licensed by m$ ? Of course they where.. so they could sing their stuff as debug for working on it.
Any final stuff had to be submitted to m$ and release by them to be run on retail Xbox. You can patch some XBE (CXBX), YMMV.. >
Why would you bother with patching /signing anything ? Just use what i linked in my previous post you'll be fine..
I had a debug-kit before BTW, i gave it to BuZz.. IMO even for development a retail Xbox with a 128MB RAM upgrade is better than a debug-kit.
Did you even bother searching a bit ?? or At least googled "Hack-DevKiT Bios V2" ?

Re: Help with running XBMC on debug kit
I did search and I read about the hack devkit bios, but supposedly it only works with regular composite cables.
I know that Microsoft had to sign in order for the code to work on retail xboxes, but I thought that debug xboxes would run code compiled with the XDK without having to send it to Microsoft.
