Guys, I'm close to throwing in the towel.
I feel like I've tried everything. I'm typically really good with stuff like this, but I'm just not able to figure it out. I don't know if I'm using the wrong emulators or what, but I feel like something is just wrong.
I've decided to try downloading HeXen to see if maybe taking another route could help me better. I doubt it'll work, though.

Re: Desperate.. Need Help Soft Modding
What have you tried so far? Name of emu/roms (reference links)? You are likely booting up to UnleashX or EvoX dashboard at the moment, the emu(s) would reside under E:\Games and the roms would be under E:\Games\<name of emu>\roms. You do NOT need to launch XBMC from the Applications menu in order to run the emu (possible but not required). You can also try to track down the all inclusive Emu Installer or CoinOPS Lite but that's another feat in itself for new users.Noods wrote:Guys, I'm close to throwing in the towel.

Optional: you may add an "Emulators" tab to the UnleashX menu by editing the config.xml file

Kitana,
Before I jump into things, I'd be more than happy to Paypal you $20 if we can get this working.. Just since you've been so patient throughout this process.
I'm using UnleashX and attempting to use the N64 emulator Surreal 64, because I read it's compatible with XBMC4XBOX and wasn't having any luck with two other programs I tried. So it basically reads for the Emu E:/Games/Surreal64 and the Roms are under E:/Games/Surreal64/Roms.. I've been attempting to use Goldeneye as the game, so it's then E:/Games/Surreal64/Roms/Goldeneye.z64 (or something very close to this).
Then, I go to XBMC and go to add the source.. I've tried to add the Surreal 64 folder, the Goldeneye rom, etc., but nothing works.
Here is photo evidence that (hopefully) I'm not the idiot I'm making myself out to be

Then, after I click on Roms, it's a blank folder.

You can grab Emu Installer on the http://www.emuxtras.net FTP server, http://www.XBOX-Hq.com FTP server, via torrent at Under-Ground Gamer or my first release of it at http://theisozone.com/downloads/xbox/em ... ller-full/
Im currnetly working on V3 and looking at a release in a few days
For add source just add the root folder like Games, Emulators, Apps etc

Re: Desperate.. Need Help Soft Modding
If emu is located under E:\Games\Surreal64 and Rom(s) are under E:\Games\Surreal64\Roms\Goldeneye.zip (do NOT extract Goldeneye.zip!), then UnleashX would pick up the emu under the Games menu and XBMC would detect Surreal64 under Programs>Games (don't add Roms folder as a source). You would simply launch Surreal from either locations (UnleashX>Games OR XBMC>Programs>Games) and Goldeneye would appear on the game list. Repeat the same process for all your future emu/roms.Noods wrote:

Use this Compatibility/Settings list for reference for specific games

Re: Desperate.. Need Help Soft Modding
Should I have unzipped Surreal 64 or no? So far, still no luck.
Re: Desperate.. Need Help Soft Modding
The attached screenshots below is exactly how it appears from the FTP client.Noods wrote:Should I have unzipped Surreal 64 or no? So far, still no luck.
1) I have an F: drive, but yours should be E:
2) <drive_letter>:\Games and <driver_letter>:\Emulators are auto-detect under XBMC
3) Since you boot to UnleashX by default, I'd stay with E:\Games so it works out of the box (try this first!). However, under XBMC you must add "Games" or "Emulators" as source in order to see "Programs>Games/Emulators>Surreal64xxx".
The following is the ACTION sequence you must perform in the exact order (applicable to all previous posts)
1) XBMC home screen>Programs>Add source>Browse to E:\Games>OK
2) XBMC home screen>Programs>Games>select Surreal64xxx icon and press A to launch emu
3) UnleashX home screen>Games>select Surreal64xxx icon and press A
NOTE: UnleashX does NOT auto detect or display E:\Emulators by default, need to add path to config.xml
The following is the actual LOCATION which the files/folders are located
1) E:\Games\Surreal64xxx
2) E:\Games\Surreal64xxx\Roms\GoldenEye 007.zip (or any future rom files)
NOTE: you must manually create Apps (already did this during initial softmod), Emulators, and Games folders via FTP or File Manager prior to add source under XBMC

Kitana,
I just wanted to let you know I haven't completely bailed yet. I'm going to go ahead and give this a try and see if anything comes of it. I have a feeling there's something else wrong, but I'm willing to give it a shot. If there's anything else anybody would suggest, definitely let me know.

Re: Desperate.. Need Help Soft Modding
I think you need to back your source path up a level, on my xbox i have all the games in G/games, and the source path is G/games.
When i go to the games folder i see the icons of the games including coinops, if the roms are placed in the correct folder for the emu then you dont require a seperate source for the roms- surreal will find the roms for you.
And if its like any of the other emu's i've tried, you leave the roms zipped.
