Re: Case Mods Showcase
Well appearance wise it's kinda hard to say since you've got that skin on there. You could always do a green LED fan to give the xbox some green back lighting.
I want to bring back an old mod i did a long time ago but maybe you can do it first. Been kicking around the idea of doing clear case feet with LED's in them. It's not
hard if you use the screw holes, make them alittle bigger to get the LEDs into and they should tuck under the mobo if your careful enough. Here is a pic to explain what i mean.
Use something like these for case feet..........

Re: Case Mods Showcase
yea man thats nice, i added front lights to my magma but it was in the space in the underside of the front panel but it gave a nice frontal glow. i also got a clear led base that another xbox sits on with also has 3 fans (via usb power) build in with blue leds...... anyways back to actual modding lol
haven't actually seen that mod before tbh and the link for the feet is great. if i was doing it i thing id have to have 2 rows rather than single feet then put a strip of leds down and let it rock lol

Re: Case Mods Showcase
That's a nice mod!
I would like to make a window cut like the ones Llamma used to sell. They are a waterjet machine cut probably and I wonder if it's possible to do them nowadays in the UK.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
yea man that's sweet and you could indeed make this. all you need is the measurements and a cutting tool. i use my dremel and its great for that stuff.
im not sure about that case tbh, i prefer it with just the 2 front windows but i haven't actually done this myself ive just done the window mod and open drive mod which looked pretty sweet. most people use clear plastic or glass but i pulled mine back out and put chrome mesh in i picked up at a local b n q.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Yeah this looks really nice, it's cut by a waterjet machine, I consider doing this mod, I would only do the front part and make a clear DVD lid anyway, if I will have a custom clear jewel soon from an Xbox I bought. I will send you a picture when I'll get it if you want to trade it with a clear stock jewel.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
The jewel should clean up with some gasoline to stip the crap paint off of the top and not distort the jewel. That's crazy, wonder if they were done with the paint or if they had other plans. Getting the paint off of the lid shouldnt be hard, it's just all those little cracks and corners will be tough i'm sure.

Re: Case Mods Showcase
Seeing as I have almost finished my Xbox project thought id post some pics, I just have the standard jewel mod left to do.
Trusty's amazing work, a 1.4ghz CPU

Wanted it to run cooler, so after a bit of trial with a few heatsinks I settled for a 100% copper low profile heatsink I modded to fit. Never goes over 45C now and idles at 39C - 41C. I know this is a bit excessive but I like keeping it at a lower temp.

Did the internal IR Dongle and Logitech controller mod, used these small relays so I don't need to add a switch if I want to use front controller ports.

All the gear fitted, pretty tight fit but tried to keep it as tidy as possible. I'm using the case fan header for the CPU fan to bring the speed back a bit to quiet it down.

Refitted DVD-Rom and 2TB HDD with SATA adapter, tested and all working well. Loving CPU speed increase, if you use your Xbox for PS1 and/or N64 emulation defiantly worth it.

Hopefully have the Jewel mod done this week, thanks for some rare bits and pieces Royalx

No problem. Seeing the last picture, I was thinking that looks familiar.r32crazy01 wrote:..., thanks for some rare bits and pieces Royalx
Well done with the mod.
You could cut the sides on the RF shielding for a better airflow to keep temps down.
It worked for me, as from Nextelhalo's reference.
