You know Nex , in my last bulk purchase i got an empty crystal case without the dvd bezel that i have thought about doing a slim mod to. Once i finish building my workshop i will have some time to do some more mods.

See boys, there lays my problem. If I mod it, I clock it. I love displays. Trying to get a clock in a translucent case well, you both know the downfalls with that idea and as a result, I have an empty Halo Green, Crystal and a Clear case sitting here. Maybe these cases with a black face may be the way to go?. Now that's a thought aye.

Well I'm getting ready to start my project, just waiting on a couple of things to arrive hopefully this next week.
I'm waiting on a dvd remote/receiver and some female pcb usb sockets. Then I'm planning on hard modding a usb to controller port 3 and the dvds receiver to port 4, along with putting it on a little diet. Im also wanting to swap the power and eject functions and smooth over the small original power button.
All this is going to be taking place on my v1.4 that so far Iv softmodded, then soldered and flashed the tsop to M8 bios. Beginning of last week I found an old 40gb hdd in a tower in the attic so put that in, then last night a friend gave me a 80gb he had hanging about soooo last night I fitted that :)
Iv now installed coinops 5 full+r13 along with a standalone mega drive, snes and n64 emulators. Iv got xbmc4xbox as my default dash although I don't use it as a media centre in any way I just prefer it to all others

Will post pics and updates as I go

All the best

dont think so mate the reason being i copied them from various websites and forums over the years and loaded them into word documents. unfortunately i didn't keep the author or location details so couldn't really take credit for it and may not have permission to repost them.

also as i said ive got loads in a folder and theres already a section for modding on the forum so theres a good chance alot of the stuff i have will already be in there. if theres something specific your looking for let me know and ill check

I thought it high time builders of outstanding modded machines of there own creating be rewarded with thumbs as a show of appreciation and glad others followed the lead. Let's hope this starts a revival in modding these machines. I know I love the modding section with all it's pictures and just outstanding workmanship and ingenuity that can go into "reinventing the wheel" so to say. So there you go boys, the incentives, all be it small in comparison to the effort required, is out there so let's see what you can do with the Xbox. Not all of use where blessed with the ability to get our heads around software and coding but are blessed with the creative ability in our hands so let's embrace that and show "our" talent. :ugeek:

Because a crystal X3CP on a crystal Xbox was way too boring;
My new desk Xbox. :)
  • X3CE
  • X3CP
  • 128MB RAM upgrade
  • 500GB IDE HDD
  • Internal IR receiver with a DPDT switch to switch IR ~ gameport 4 /USB B.
Thanks to xman and Nextelhalo. (ideas, knowledge, parts)

There is an error on this picture.
I decided to use a left side game ports on the right to have more wire length.. guess what.. I forgot to grab a second left side one and installed my led (for the left side) in a right side one. ^^
Wires where too short, I had to do it again.
Image
1/8 watt resistors and white LEDs.
Image
A very small file was used to oversize an already existing hole to install the switch on the X3CP.
Image
Hot melt glue was used to stick the switch in place.
Image
I had to make the switch a bit shorter to clear the ground. (Not on picture)
Image
The metal shield was modded to have a better airflow and remove the stress on any added wires.
Image
Slideshow of the holes.
Image
Everything is modular, no troubles when /if I need to take apart the Xbox.
Image
Its very important to not pinch or shave any wires.

I had a review about ghostcases posted on the old forum. You got what you are paying for, they are pretty fragile.
But still, if used correctly and handled with cares you can have awesome results. I'm not saying it would be impossible to make a slim out of them but it would definitely be a tougher job.
Also take note that it doesn't include a case base.

ok got another xbox , found out it was chipped so got modding.

Havent done much so far but here it is, fully cleaned it out and added a 120gb hdd, cut away most of the metal shielding again added green strips lights for sides and controller ports to it. also found a vinyl green chrome skin so i added that.

Not sure what else to do yet - suggestions? this will be the first mod ive done without the clear jewel / led jewel mod but im defo adding an internal ir mod again and maybe a usb port. Pics below -
