FTP Problem

Post by clowncar2 »

Just softmodded my xbox, with any problem, but I can't get FTP to work correctly.

I can login without any problem, but when I start transfering files, after 3 files or so, it just stops and starts timing out, it's still connected though. If I disconnect and reconnect, it says there are too many users connected, so I have to reset the box.

I've tried every router/wired/wireless and FTP client I can think of. Any ideas? :(

set your ftp program to use a single thread and type the dns server and gateway to that of the pc you are transfering files from and see what happens.
also try passive and active modes.
do you have a firewall or virus checker running also what version of windows ?
what program do you have running on the xbox for the ftp transfers ?

... and use Filezilla as your FTP client. Free, open source, and actively developed (=any bugs found are tracked and fixed). :)

Like Heimdall says, use FileZilla and limit the transfers to one connection (see settings) or increase the number of connections, either by editing the server .xml or through the configuration tool (see below).

Also, you don't have to restart Xbox, you can disconnect the connection this way:

I might suggest for the standard XBMC4Xbox config to allow for two connections rather than just one...

As said, use FileZilla.
Edit> Settings> Transfers> "Maximum simultaneous transfert" = 1
And:
Edit> Settings> Transfers> File Types> "Default transfer type" = Binary
