nasty thieving phone-line thieves!

Post by asbo »

As I'm sure you've all noticed I haven't posted for a few days, you did notice right?! ;)
Some helpful people decided to steal the phone lines which meant we haven't had a phone or internet connection since Thursday night, thankfully its now been fixed. :)

There's been a lot of this happening in my part of the world though, the prices of copper are such that its now worthwhile for people to rip down/up the phone and electric cables. Apparently this time they took up two manhole covers some distance apart, cut the cables and were in the process of attaching one end to van to pull out when they were disturbed.
And what was presumably a few minutes work for them took BT 5 days to repair.
We also lost our electricity last year when someone stole the power lines.

On a side note, just been checking my emails and I have 70 in the spam folder

All the more reason for them to hurry up and roll the fibre in! but noooo, they're always banging on about how many millions they're pumping into broadband in Norfolk and yet bugger all happens!
I'm not mad ;)

in nz you need a photo drivers licence to sell scrap and the scrap yards get monitored by the fuzz and if something is reported stolen.

im sort of a part time sparky and 11 years ago i ogot mum a cheap deal on some 10sqmm 3phase neutral screen and it has been sitting in a shed and got pinched misteriously when the worker left, it was purchased to put a pump shed in the middle of a paddoc after digging a well but it never happened in the end.

there was 1100 mt on the roll and cost $11000 to buy 10 or so years ago and insurance paid out, it has a price of $125 per mt that is a retail price of $137500!!!!!! but they got a good discount and got it for $80000 that is a good investment!!!
