Soft modded 1.0 XBOX 'fragging'

Post by ocmdiaz714 »

My XBOX never gave me any problems until today when it didnt power up and instead gave me a flash of red and green. I don't know what to do here. Can anybody tell me where to start on repairing it?

it will have a hardware problem, try replacing the psu but it all points to a faulty motherboard.

Also check your power plug to the hard drive and the IDE cable to the HDD and the DVD drive.

That was definitely what I was going to do first until I noticed I lost my tools. Guess I'll have to make a stop at Home Depot now. Could a faulty DVD rom be the issue? I ask as the DVD tray wouldn't close unless I gave it a push, and I once saw my toddler handling it roughly as it wouldn't close, he might have broken something? I find it hard to imagine a DVD rom causing the such an error though.

Edit: I found my torx screwdriver, and I can't seem to find a problem. I tried cleaning it up, and the system did boot up, and I turned it off, and wouldn't turn back on. Same deal as before. I disconnected the hard drive, and I got as far as the XBOX logo every time (3-4 times). Then I hooked everything back up, and I'm back at step 1. Sometimes it will boot to the splash, sometimes it will load to XBMC and freeze at the menu, and then there's time where it frags, and times it doesn't frag, but I get no display.

This is bad news...
