Xbox randomly turns on

My xbox randomly turns itself on and the power button is unresponsive. Only way to get it to switch on is the eject button and only way to switch off is pulling the power cable. It did it when stock and it still does it now i've Tsopped it. Sometimes it works fine, power button works, turns off etc, and other times it plays up again. All the caps appear to be ok, no swelling and none leaking.

Does anyone know what the problem is please?

its probably the faceplate pcb. pop that sucker out and look at the traces. maybe replace the tac switch

Could be the old trace corrosion problem. Is this a 1.0 motherboard?

Thanks for the replies boys. It was indeed a corroded trace. There was a very very small section, about 1/4 of a mm missing out of a track. I had to use 2 magnifying glasses doubled up to see it. luckily it was on the outer edge by the ethernet port, so a minute blob of solder fixed it.

I suggest to re-wire all 4 sensitive traces. Today you repaired corroded gap, tomorrow there might be a new one :)
