XBMC4xbox booting troubles

Post by marky »

Hiya,

for some time, my version of XBMC has started to take ages to boot. The strange thing is that this only happens from time to time. I've been trying to track this down with the logs, but unfortunately I've run out of ideas what to try. What I found out is that it must be connected to "Setup DirectX".

When looking at a "normal" boot log, everything seems fine, but again and again it looks like this:

Code: Select all

As you can see, setting up DirectX takes approx. 7 minutes. When XBMC boots properly, as it also does sometimes, this takes less than a second. Another thing which is really strange is the fact that this only happens when I turn off power because the system is stuck. It never happens after the box was turned off for some time. As I cannot really reproduce the problem, I cannot provide a proper debug log, but if this helps I can keep on trying.

Any help much appreciated.

change the hdd ?
You can also check the hdd in your pc with hirens boot cd and scan for errors in the smart data and proform an extended low level read and write test.

But it it was me i'd be inclined to try putting in a no dvd bios if it is chipped and remove the dvd drive and see if the problem goes away, i had a xbox with a thompson dvd drive that did the same thing.
