I'd prefer not to use Coinops for various reasons. Can anyone help with these MAMEoX/Coinops questions:
1) Does Coinops 5 put all its save information in a single folder in tdata/udata? I'm worried that the various cores it integrates will mess with my existing 'standalone' emulators.
2) What is the latest pre-Coinops version of MAME for the xbox? It looks like MameoX 128 Plus.
3) Do I need coinops for analog control of games like Outrun, Pole Position, Afterburner, Space Harrier, Super Hangon? I know these are supported by several emulators, but they're not really playable without proper analog control.
4) Is there anything big I'm missing by avoiding Coinops and instead using Mameox128plus, mameox 0.72 (for Midway games) , FBL, xRaine, CPX3? Looking at the changelogs, it appears to add support for random new roms, though I'm mostly interested in 1980s games.

Re: Alternatives to Coinops
I tend to use MameOX128 and FBL mostly which covers most of the stuff I want to play on my arcade stick (ridiculous shooters, and 1980s arcade stuff)

Re: Alternatives to Coinops
Checkout 1emulation .com FBA legends 1.10 from +T+ and unofficial versions/updates by Destronger and Magic Seb
Bendermike has a version mamedox with assistance from HK$ 2005 but good luck finding working links maybe a torrent will get you what you want
Otherwise Retro arch/ liberto cross platform builds pros: up to date and roms compatible with many systems, cons: re-find roms as old roms won't work
