Very odd boot/video problem

Post by Persian_McLovin »

Hi all,

So I've tried to find a solution to my issue and got nothing unfortunately.

My setup is:

Xbox 1.4
X3 modchip
Chimeric HDMI
Owned since 2011
Zero problems with anything prior

For the past 2 months my Xbox would boot as normal into XBMC but randomly started having flicker/black screening for a couple of seconds. When playing games though for hours never an issue. It then got so bad on XBMC I decided to hold down the right trigger on bootup to force it into XBMC4gamers which I also have installed and would usually go straight into after loading XBMC. This was because immediately after the Xbox boot animation with the flubber it would just black screen and lose video signal on my TV completely until I booted it up again.

When in XBMC4gamers there was never a single issue whether I was in XBMC4gamers itself or playing games via it. I then saw there was an update for XBMC4gamers released end of August so today I updated and now I cannot do a single thing after boot except hold A which gets me into the X3's menu which even if I keep it there for an hour straight no black screens/video signal loss at all...it's only when it gets passed the boot animation.

Weird thing though, every once in a while you can see for a split second XBMC immediately after boot but then loses all video signal and doesn't come back.

I am extremely confused and have tried everything I can think of including the obvious such as switching cables, TVs, holding LS+RS during booting (the normal Xbox dash also works fine along with changing the priority dash in X3's settings to evoxdash etc which also fails to boot)...I'm usually good at troubleshooting but I'm at a complete loss here.

Would be super grateful if anyone can help me out!

Thanks in advance.

Update: So I did an experiment with inserting a retail disc (San Andreas) to bypass the video out portion after boot and it worked absolutely fine. I was able to play for an hour no problem.

So it seems the non-MS dashboards have an issue?

I'd hoping someone has a solution to this!
