Bondo tips?
I have two of my ports internalized on my slim, and i was wondering if there were any tips on using bondo to fill the player 1 and player 4 slots? ive never personally used bondo before but i think i have a grasp on it. i'll post pictures and maybe a guide if i do a good job.

Re: Bondo tips?
I personally don't like the stuff for Xboxes preferring to cut smaller pieces of Xbox plastic and fit in place by gluing using 2 part epoxy glue but if you must use the stuff, mix it exactly as your brand of Bondo says, maybe a touch more hardener so it definitely goes Rock Hard. There is nothing worse than trying to dig out Bondo that because not enough Hardener was added, will never go off.

Re: Bondo tips?
I've never heard of bondo but that it a really nice looking finish, think I might have to invest in some myself. Not really sure what I want to fill yet but I'm sure I can find something

Doesn't exist in the UK as far as I know. Just look around for 'car body filler'. For example I use DAVIDS ISOPON P38 EASY SAND CAR BODY FILLER.whufclee wrote:I've never heard of bondo but that it a really nice looking finish, think I might have to invest in some myself. And don't use it inside unless you want to get high

Re: Bondo tips?
I do my own home made plastic welding i cut up a simular colour plastic into a thin strip and heat it with the heat gun very slowly so it dont bubble and then fill minor holes that way then just sand it away i recently filled a hole in an x3cp that restless sold me that had an ir window in the front.
then i have a dremel with cloth disks and but rubbing compound on them and polish it up afterwards you would only notice it if you looked very close but it you painted it it would come up looking like it was not touched.

Re: Bondo tips?
i would think that its wise to epoxy in some sort of plastic inset about 5mm that way when filling with the Bondo you dont have such a deep void to fill just a few millimeters ,:?: its just a thought...

Re: Bondo tips?
actually what i did was similar to that. i glued a piece of cd case plastic (plexiglass stuff) in the whole and put small pieces of wood shavings (saw that somewhere that it will hold from cracking better) and filled it few mm at a time. probably not the most ideal but it came out pretty cool i think. i like the stuff but next time im going to look into what xman said.

Re: Bondo tips?
Bondo or body filler really needs the surrounding plastic to be"roughed up" to give the filler something to bit into as it can fall out if the plastic is left smooth and it is also prone to cracking if it is too thin a layer you've used where as the 2 part epoxy is more flexible. As the Xbox face requires some degree of flexing to get it to fit back on the machine, this is why I don't use it for the face plate. I would be happier to use it on the case as little flexing is necessary so far less chance of cracking.
@ PJ...The 2 pak epoxy I use is something like Araldite because it is more of a liquid when applying and sets hard where as the stuff you linked to is more of a solid and sets like a rock. It is however an outstanding product that I have used with great success on non Xbox projects. The Kneed It Steel I used on a motorbike crankcase that had broken a piece of the crank case completely out and was below the low pressure oil level of the motor. The piece of the crank case lost was about 30mm in diameter. I drained the oil and cleaned the surrounding crank case in Metho and "kneeded" the Kneed It steel in to the casing's jagged edge of the hole and it has been there in my buggy's motor for several years now and not a sign of oil leaks since. I also used it to repair a broken external rear view mirror mount on a car. I found once nearly in place, keeping you finger wet with turps enabled me to get a smooth finish that required no filing. Forget sanding with paper, it really is miles to hard to sand manually. Grinder or file are better suited. The "Kneed It Aqua" I used to repair my cracked and leaking water tank at the farm and although frustrating trying to get it to stick with water coming out as I attempted to repair it, once it did get a hold on the wet plastic, it did the repair perfectly.professor_jonny wrote:in nz they have a product called selleys knead it which i guess is the same 2 part epoxy based filler/putty

Re: Bondo tips?
I have used that Selleys knead it before and found it awkward to use, bog/ bondo/ body filler what ever you call it is best for filling holes and cracks. High-fill primer is also good for filling scratches and light dents/ divets .
Sent from my android coz apple is for pie.

Re: Bondo tips?
Yea that Bondo is a Great idea and Xman is,Right It does Need A Ruff surface in order to cure properly here in the states they make/sell Primers that"Etch the surface of the plastic (scratch it) in order for the bondo to grab into Anouther option is trusty ol'e sand paper or emery Cloth
to ruff it up..
