Hello,
Thanks for having me here.
I've had an old modded Xbox I've been using for a few years just with standard video output. Have connected a component cable, and as mine is a PAL configured machine, used Enigmah to change to NTSC (separate issue, it never saves, and once Xbox is rebooted it goes back to PAL. Is this normal?).
Once changed to NTSC, no matter what I change the video output to, 1080i, 720p or 480p it goes to a black screen and freezes. Would like to run in 720p, is there something I am doing wrong?
I'm using xbmc4xbox 3.3.3
Any advice would be appreciated.

Softmodded, virtual eeprom with disabled write to virtual eeprom enabled will be the cause.
Stick a file on the root of E named eeprom_off.bin or if that doesn't work E:\NKP11\eeprom_off.bin
It depends on the softmod you have installed.
Note with a modchip or TSOP flash, there is zero reason it would fail to write to the eeprom, if the eeprom was corrupt and couldn't be written to, the Xbox would fail to boot altogether. So this only leaves one alternative softmod with VE enabled. ( usually it's enabled by default with older softmods )

Re: Change Video Output get black screen
So, Rocky is right about the reason your video mode is not retained over a power cycle - you're softmodded with a virtual eeprom.
But, it looks like no-one has yet addressed why your screen goes black.
Are you sure your telly supports dynamic changes of resolution from 576i to 480p/ 720p/ 1080i ?
You talk about it freezing. How do you know? What is telling you that it's frozen?

I knew it was frozen as I couldn't reset the Xbox via the controller as per normal.spicemuseum wrote:So, Rocky is right about the reason your video mode is not retained over a power cycle - you're softmodded with a virtual eeprom.

@Rocky5's solution worked. Now enjoying in 720p.

I recently changed my video output and now my Xbox boots and then goes to a black screen. How can I get back to 480p?

Please do not double post or use a really old thread (last post here was 2017) for a new problem. It doesn't bother me but some people here don't like it and you'll likely get help quicker in a new thread anyway.
I've posted about your resolution settings problem in your other thread.
