I made a probe on LCD 2x16 and 4x20.
I set the chip option.
Set the default in xbmc.
I can set the screen's brightness.
Unfortunately, no subtitles ...
Any ideas?

your soldering is not really that good, turn the temp down as it is melting the insulation and retracting from the solder pad leaving a lot of exposed wire and possibly wicking the solder up the wire which will leave it brittle.
i'd double check your connections are in the correct spots, does it work in the smartxx os on boot? or just not at all?
