Hello all,
I just picked up my OG modded Xbox from moms house and dusted it off to discover that the chip no longer functions. Took it all apart and it seems hat the glue or whatever was holding it in place has failed.
I’ve managed to get it going again but am having a hard time keeping it in place. Is there a new solution or something I can use that will keep the chip in place? I’ve tried glue gun but the glue doesn’t really stick to the Pcb very well and it need a bit of pressure to hold it down. I’m missing the star washer. Will electrical tape be safe or even work?
Just looking for some options. It’s been years since I’ve seen this thing fired up, good times!

Have you tried Kapton tape? It's really useful for holding down electronic components and a lot less messy than electrical tape which gets a bit gluey when things warm up. Just an example:

I hope this helps you out.

Thanks for the response! I found some of that tape on amazon, will find out in a few days how it goes. Thanks again.

Tape came in yesterday and after a couple of trial and errors, seems to be holding things down. I tested, placed the drives back in, tested, put cover on, tested, failed. Rinse, repeat. Finally was able to lock everything down even flip it to lock the screws in and fired up no problem. Still feels like it’s going to crap out just from so many attempts but so far so good.

You could also put something like a sticky pad on the bottom of the DVD tray to "depress" the chip and keep it in place. Just throwing it out there if it becomes a problem. I've put some of the xbox sticky feet under a modchip to stop it from leaning over off of the pin header, that seemed to work too.
