I just got done soft modding my original Xbox and installed XBMC. Everything seemed to go fine, as well as adding the XAI. However, when I go into the SVN Repo installer or the Xbox Addon Installed menu, the items show up in the list but I can't click on any of them in either list. I have attached some screen shots for better understanding. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be greatly appreciated.
I would imagine this is down to a network issue, without a debug log it's hard to diagnose but the majority of users would need the following settings:
Ethernet cable should be going from router to xbox.
[Xbox] Settings>Network should be set to "Automatic DHCP".
Once the above is all correct reboot the xbox, you should be able to see scrolling text at the bottom of the homepage (this is an RSS feed which shows the xbox is online), if you don't have the RSS Feed go into settings>Appearance and make sure RSS Feeds is enabled, if it is and you aren't getting a feed there is something wrong with your setup.
In the unlikely event that your router isn't setup for DHCP and you use static IP's then you'll have to manually setup the network settings.
Guys I would love a bit of help too as I am in the same boat. Updated xbmc a few weeks ago, now i can't get any sources to work. But I have the RSS feed running so something else is up and I just can't find it.
I have my log pasted here:
If anyone gets a bit of time to have a look I would appreciate it, I haven't had a play for a few months until now, always end up coming back to it after playing with other new toys Cheers.
Looks like you're trying to use temhils old addons4xbox installer - I have no idea whether or not that is still functional as temhil left the scene about a year or so ago as he no longer has an xbox. Install XAI (Xbox Addon Installer) if you do a quick search on the forum you'll soon find the release thread.
Thanks for looking in whufclee. I have XAI installed and can see the options (just like the photo a few posts above) but when I press any one of them nothing happens - I don't know if there is something else I should have installed like a missing script or something maybe? No probs ftp to xbox and the RSS feed is always running.......
If you previously had an old version installed then the newer one had to be a totally fresh install. You need to go to Q:\Userdata\plugin_data\ and delete any folder that relates to XAI. This will delete all the outdated sources and when you try the addon again it should load up the new ones for you.
Thanks whufclee but I have tried that (more than once) with no joy....
The only response I get is when I check for updates, the screen scrolls through half a dozen or so items and then comes up empty (save for the directory arrow at the top).
I have noticed my C drive is nearly full, don't know if it could be needing a minimum there...
May try a full reinstall but I'm sure it's something simple.
Yes it sounds as though it's something simple. I'm presuming you have xbmc installed on E right? If that's the case then don't worry about C, you shouldn't ever have to add files to C. Make sure you have the correct version of XAI (if it looks like the pics above that's the outdated version), double check you have internet connection and also that you have some space on the drive xbmc is installed on (presumably E). If still no luck post a debug log on pastebin and we'll take a look.

Ok for some reason my xbmc is on C drive and not E, is that the problem right there?
Thanks angel4b I have no idea how it got on C drive, I have updated a few times over the years but I must have stuffed up big time last time. I'll move it over soon and report back, cheers.
The "3. Addons" is just a heading, everything below that line is an addon category (mainbranch xbmc no longer have scripts and plugins - for the past couple of years they have been called "addons").
You "moved" xbmc to E drive? does that also mean you changed the shortcut file to point to its location in E drive? Are you sure you're running one of the latest builds? Think we're going to need a debug log posted up for this one as it could be any number of things, especially as I'm now confused where your xbmc build is located
