Need help! with step by step xbox modding
Hi i have looked around the internet different forums alot of google and youtube landed my self a cord game ect and managed to softmod the system well i want to take it further i want to upgrade to a larger drive 500 gigs+ emulators ect. Now as i have reached the time to use chimp or hardmod step i have watched videos read forums and i can't make heads or tales of it. my xbox on the unleash skin says its a v 1.1 which i understand is good.(maybe) but as i was saying all forums an youtube videos i watch are only small pieces to the puzzle as i know for hard mods there are many differnt mod chips to choose from and or there is using chimp to swap to a larger drive which has to be able to be locked. i got myself a ide to sata conversion and i have a 80 wire 40 pin ide cable. every time i try nothing works i can't either get chimp to boot in which is says (can't find default.exe file) or somethign to that (this is after i switch ide from dvd to hdd before app boot) or if i do it after the boot of chimp it still seems to think the samsung dvd drive is plugged in so yah no dice. i have a 40 gig WD ide but i can't even get it to work with that at all it either doesn't seem to recognize it or the file refuses to boot right...so help? i would really apprecaite it i have really been working at it but i feel like i hit a brick wall if you could provide answers links resources with explantion that would be great so i can either purchase or just figure out what i am doing wrong here...

Steady on, you've mentioned a whole bunch of (potential) mods at once, and we're not clear what you want to do.
Let's start with what softmod you've installed...?

Kind of, it SID 5.11 Final. UnleashX is just the dashboard that is installed afterwards. ( that isn't the softmod )scimitar777 wrote:its 5.11 final unleashx ??? is that right ?
Also v1.1 is your Xbox version.
How it looks now, I had to change the menu a bit.

Re: Need help! with step by step xbox modding
awesome thanks i did manage to get my 40 gig drive i had laying around to work after a few checks turns out my molex 4 pin y connector was busted up and still is but i got some of it soldered and got it to work long enough to get the 40 gig installed as my main drive. i was thinking of moving up to a 200 gig drive already got on picked out. is there any reason to go with a hardmod at this point would they serve any purpose?

Bridging (soldering) the TSOP flash points and flashing a replacement BIOS simplifies procedures significantly. For example, you can run with your hard drive unlocked, and you can insert a new hard drive which will be automatically detected and formatted ready for new software.scimitar777 wrote:is there any reason to go with a hardmod at this point would they serve any purpose?

I use HeXEn boot disc to manage BIOS replacement, I find it the most logical but there are others. (Rocky's tool are very good also.)
...or you can install a modchip for the same effect (but with the additional cost and complexity of fitting).
