Trying to restore original Xbox with xboxhdm 1.9

Post by methodz »

Hello,

So earlier today I successfully soft modded my original xbox using xboxhdm and ndure3.1 from a tutorial I found. I really didn't like the version of unleash that was installed with it. I ended up downloading AID 4.5.3 and ended up messing my xbox up trying to install a different dashboard. Now when I load up my xbox I get error code 13.

So I did some looking around and found that if I got the 5960 files that I could create a new disc and reimage my xbox back to original so I could go another try at softmodding the xbox again.

Well, when I try the hot swap xboxhdm is not recognizing the drive.

Any thoughts on how I can correct this?

I have already tried the Halo 2, xbox live, new account trick and that didn't anything to rectify the problem.

Thanks for any help.

did you makea backup of your eprom key?
if you have you can unlock it that way and just re install the softmod from xboxhdm.

If it can boot games then couldn't you load a splinter cell exploit? Assuming you have an exploitable game of course.

I guess I could try doing the Splinter Cell exploit, I would have to find a copy of the game as I currently do not own one.

"just use a good installation disc and all is fine. Use a 2.6 slayer or something similar"

You tried AID, I used to use that and it works fine, but you have to be careful with it. Simple question is does it still start-up with AID in the drive?

If it does, then it means your softmod is still present (good), and the next step I suggest is to download and use HeXEn instead. It's idiot proof (I know, because I've been known to resemble one on occasion).

And whichever disc you end up using, take a copy of your eeprom!!!!

This is no longer a viable option because you need to copy the game save to the internal hard drive using the dashboard, and he can't get into the dashboard, so unless he already had the game save on his internal hard drive for some reason, there's no way to get it on there for now.

spicemuseum's suggestion is the easiest thing to try for now. If that doesn't work, then your only options are to either install a modchip (this can be temporary if you only want to fix your softmod) or build an EEPROM reader. As others have said, always back up your EEPROM as soon as you mod your Xbox.

Just unplug the DVD to force E12, hotswap and rebuild the HDD using AutoBuilder

oh yeah oops  I keep a save on all my xboxes just in case. I forget you have to transfer them onto there in the first place.
