Multi-drive n00b question

Post by mark3p »

Hello everyone and merry christmas / happy new year blah de blah!!

Firstly, thanks to all the people of these forums and the awesome Rocky5 I have my xbox V1.0 nicely soft-modded and running a 1.5tb sata WD greenpower that I cannibalised out of a skyHD box.

Default dash is unleashedX (need to figure out how to change that to xbmc4xbox which is saved as an application).

I was wondering if there was a way to have more than one sata hard drive installed and running simultaneously. I have seen the xtender cases however those allow one drive at a time to run. Had a search of the forum as I'm a long time lurker but didn't see anything concrete.

Thanks again everyone!

Not possible under normal use, I'm sure it's possible if you are running Linux on the Xbox but that's pointless for what you're probably wanting.

As for change the dashboard that's easy.

Remove the folder C:\Dashboard & move your E:\Applications\XBMC folder to C & rename it to dashboard.
(can be done within unleashx's filemanager)

Or use the extras disc to install XBMC as a dashboard.
Download Xbox Softmodding Tool & Extras Disc
XBMC4Kids Mod

Xbox Gamertag = Connxtion
PSN ID = JCRocky5

Thanks Rocky. Yeah the idea was to have all my emulators and ROMs on the one console but it doesn't fit in my 1.5tb. Guess that I will have to go xtender and have multiple instances of xbmc4xbox.

Thanks for the protip on the dash replacement as well. Still fairly new but learnt a lot so far!

@ Mark3p nice to know :-)

Did you just drop it in and format it ? The last TV box HDD I used was from a newer BT vision box and it was locked , the older silver BT HDD s worked great but were only 160GB

Hi Hawsey. I had one of those silver BT vision IDE 160gb drives in it initially ;)

This was a SATA drive from the supposed 2tb skyHD boxes. Played fine with an el cheapo sata 2 IDE adapter from eBay with a jumper switch. I'm on a softmod so coldbooted chimp from a disk and did the DVD drive swap. Byte for byte cloned then locked the drive. From what I've read the WD greenpower drives are fine and low heat so now I know it works am eyeing up a couple of the 2TB ones.
