Hey guys,
I pulled out the old xbox so that I could control the music for some outdoor speakers using an iphone app rather than buying a new squeezebox.
I figured I needed to update to the latest version of XBMC to be able to use the remote app. I followed this video tutorial found here: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... f=14&t=146 It still boots up to a 2007 version of XBMC, I needed to add an UnleashX dashboard to the E:\dashboard\ folder because there didn't seem to be one there. I have FTP access still.
I did not have a "XBMC" folder in my E:\apps\ folder, so when I put the newest build folder in there and renamed it "XBMC" and rebooted it did not do anything. So obviously my install is working differently than the lastest versions.
Here is my xbmc.log if this helps http://pastebin.com/raw.php?i=MuQZHc2z
I was wondering if anyone could help me update this thing? Please let me know if I can add any screen shots from filezilla, any help is appreciated, I am very rusty with all of this, it has been years since I've messed with XBMC.
EDIT: I have C:, E: and Q: drives on the xbox just for reference.

Boot into UnleashX and delete everything from E:\dashboard. That's where XBMC is booting from at the moment. From this I'd guess you have a softmodded xbox. Copy the new version of XBMC (I'd recommend stable 3.2) into E:\dashboard. Don't have it as E:\dashboard\XBMC though. Have the contents of the new XBMC build in E:\dashboard. The XBOX will try to boot from E:\dashboard\default.xbe so your filesystem must match that.

Re: Need help updating old XBMC from 2007
You can set it up that it will boot from, say for example, E:\apps\XBMC\ if you'd prefer. It involves downloading the Team XBMC default.xbe shortcut and creating a .cfg file in Notepad with the location of the XBMC build you want to boot up. This xbe and cfg files are placed in E:\dashboard. Basically the XBOX goes to E:\dashboard looking for XBMC and finds the xbe which in conjunction with the cfg file forwards it on to wherever you specified in the cfg file. It is advantageous to have things set up like this as there is a program plugin called XBMC SVN Installer which can be used to painlessly update XBMC when needed. Now the problem is the information on where to get this Team XBMC default.xbe shortcut was contained in the wiki on the old site and I'm buggered if I know where to find it now. If you're interested I can upload my one somewhere.

Has anybody gotten the official XBMC iphone app to work with 3.2?
The remote function seems to work through a web browser, but after putting all of the info in the iphone app it does not seem to respond or connect.

Wouldn't that app be for the mainline XBMC and not XBMC4XBOX? I know that Dan has a Android App for use with XBMC4XBOX:

Probably of no use to you considering you have an iphone still there's always a chance you might have an Android phone somewhere!

Oh that sucks!
I just assumed it would work. That's a bummer, so much for my outdoors remote idea

I have the Android version and it controls XBMC4XBOX very well. I can't alter the volume, but that is all I have found out so far that is negative about it.
I assume your are talking about XBMC Remote. ?
