I have an old chipped Xbox (chip: SmartXX) which used to run an old XBMC version (version 1.X). I wanted to update it to a more modern version, and I figured the best thing to do was to do a fresh install using HeXEn since it was old and there was a bunch of stuff on it I didn't really want (very similar to this thread: http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... f=6&t=1189 ). So away I went doing that, did the 3.5.4 new PAL disk, restup the partitions, installed XBMC to E, changed it to be my dash and then rebooted the XBOX. To my surprise, the stock Xbox loading screen came up and no longer will read my HeXEn disk. By no longer read I mean it will get to the XBOX loading screen as if it is working and then hang. The LED does not turn red, it stays green.
I figure I've screwed something up, and I guess I've kinda messed the mod up somehow and will no longer read unsigned disks. I also don't have FTP access.
If its any use, I can see UnleashX along with other utilities as blocks in the memory but there doesn't seem to be any way I can access it.

Re: HeXEn No Longer Loading
Have you tried cold booting HeXEn or other installer/recovery discs?
That should still work if the chip and the DVD drive are OK. If it doesn't then it could be a DVD drive read problem. Try it with an original game and also anything else apart from your HeXEn disc. Of course whatever it is should have been burned to the universally compatible DVD-R media.
However if an original game boots and "unsigned" discs won't even cold boot then it is probably a chip issue of some sort. From the evidence provided that would also be the most likely explanation as too why it has reverted to the stock MS dash.
Check the chip for loose/broken wiring or a faulty chip on/off switch (if fitted); always worth checking the obvious first. If not you'll have to wait for more expert advice from others here.
