I landed myself a very very cheap xbox 360 which as the owner said "overheated after a while".
Well once dismantled I could see the reason was all the cooling fins around the processor were blocked solid with fluff.
I have it running now for the last 12 hours with no problem.
The question now is...
What can I do with it?
Can I make it play media of my nas drive?
will it do more than my original xbox?
Is their a site like this one to help as this one even in its new incarnation is the tops?
Cheers
SC

You'll want to visit Xbox-Scene to get an idea for what you can do. The homebrew scene definitely isn't as good as the original Xbox's. I use mine mostly just for playing 360 games even though it's JTAG-hacked (the 360 equivalent of flashing the TSOP). There are a few homebrew media players but they're not very good. You'll want to read up on the JTAG hack and the newer reset glitch hack (the 360 equivalent of installing a modchip) if you want to run homebrew.

I'd suspect it's the only one of a number of consoles that can!GhostlyGamer wrote:yeah, All the 360 is really good for is playing 360 games

I had no idea that that XMPlayer even came out. Must have been during the time when Xbox-Scene wasn't reporting any news, which is where I get pretty much all my homebrew news. I'll have to check it out.
