Can You solder by chance?. If it was a pinheader install, it would have required only one easy solder job but it isn't, the board is soldered to the header. An Aladdin XT would be mounted the same way although I would recommend a pinheader install this time. What country are you in?.

So, they are standard wires to BT and L1 points. Do you run console by long pressing power button?

The alternative option is to get a on hdd copy of evolutionx flasher from xman.
once you have it you copy it onto the hdd then boot it up from the file manager in xbmc4xbox and flash from there not needing a cd :-)
you could soft boot cromwell from pheonix bios loader but it is the harder way to do things.

(make sure you unlock the flash on bootup tho)

If it comes up with error9 you most likely dont have the flash codes loaded in the ini or the chip is still flash locked.

I made a post of all the available flash codes when this forum fist come to be but im sure xman will have them all in there.

if it still does not work after that you chip or xbox could be in some way defective ?

I'm not sure if I quite understood: being the problem the writability of the chip is it relevant if i boot from DVD or HDD?
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I really have no idea on where I'm moving on...

When you flash your bios if the flash type is not known by the flasher program it will throw an unknown error see below:

http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... codes#p176

Your flash chip is a 49lf020a so the below string needs to be in the flashing program's config file or it will throw an error unknown flash type:
it will throw a flash not writable error if the chip is flash protected.

What is the error it comes up with when you try to flash?

Code: Select all

Flash = 0xbf52,"SST 49LF020A",0x40000
Just check the config file on your flashing cd to make sure that string is in there other wise the disk will not know what base adress to start flashing the chip from.

Will try that.

Meanwhile the error I got was:

"Manufacturers ID09 Device ID00
!!Flash not Writeable!!"

I've only checked in one of the several methods I've tried and yes, that line is on "eurasia_pro_generic_flash_disc_1_3" raincoat.cfg.

That means it's a writability chip problem. But how to solve it? Only re-wiring something?

Thank you

It sounds like a chip issue or the flash installed it it is not the corrrect one for the mod chip which has been an issue in the past with some chips.

You could get a member local to you to flash a bios to a flash chip and remove the one on your board and swap it ? i think i saw your chip was fitted with a plcc socket to remove the flash without soldering?

It seems that is soldered but im not sure. There's also a small kind of screw and apparently doesnt do anything...

yip it is soldered in.

you can pull out the chip in the brown socket and replace it with another with another fitted with the correct bios on it (since you are not good at soldering) or the other option is to replace the chip as it is kind of comming to an end you have tried everyting.

the other option would be to soft mod the xbox or flash the tsop?

the pot (screw) is used for the contrast of the lcd display you can mount on the front of your xbox.

You press the power button to turn on the xbox and when the light turns red press the eject botton to enter the smartxx early startup menu
from there you can flash the bios from a file on your hdd.

You press the left and right triggers at the same time as scrolling the menu to get into the locked items.

Next time can you post in your own topic please we could of missed helping you sooner if we skimed past your post :-)
