Adding More IDE Ports

Post by GeneralBones »

Hey Guys! I was wondering if it was possible to combine 2 IDE cables to allow more devices to be connected and work properly. If I do, will it think that 2 devices are 1 and damage them or somthing? The purpose of this to for me to have 2 hard drives connected at once 1) so i dont break the ide cable going into the cd drive while trying to upgrade over and over. 2) to see if i am able to use 2 hard drives at once ( im pretty sure its not possible but i also think it will, with a small chance, with linux).

i think the extender kit is what you want it has 4 ide plugs on it and you power the drive you want to use.
you cant use them at the same time, and you have to shut down to switch.

it would be nice if you were able to use an idefix 4 port adaptor like on the amiga with the xbox but one of the signals you need is not present on the xbox ide port to use it.
