there is only two 1MB banks the x3 bios can fit on as follows:
Bank 1234: on on off off (Set to this when flashing first time with FlashBIOS)
Bank 5678: off on off off
Try either of them to see if it will boot.
also with in xbmc i believe it will tell you if you have an x3 bios loaded in the system info menu.

Yes, x3 bios is detected...
Power on using power and eject at the same time for flashbios. Set the bank select switches to one of the 1mb selections. Flash it.
....
I use the following with dip setting :
1: ind-bios 5003
2: other 256k I switch out from time to time
3-4: X2 5035
5-8: x3 3294
...
If you have no switch to you can still control the bios selection on x3 config live. Avalaunch too, iirc.
Regarding bank selection without the hardware switches. X3 defaults to banks 1-4. Curious about how that works with bank settings with/out the switch. Usefulness might be in vga etc etc
