Re: XboxHDM v1.9 help
Yeah I've had a lot of problems lately with xboxhdm - my trusty old piece of crap PC I used specifically for this job finally died and I'm getting nothing but grief trying to get it to work in my newer computers. What I had to do on my old IBM/Compaq was only attach the IDE cable once the xboxhdm menu appeared (and you had to be quick!). If you're lucky your bios might allow for NOT auto-detecting hdd's - if this is an option select this but not every bios has this option available.

Re: XboxHDM v1.9 help
It's not. I keep an old Dell GX270 for this usage (amongst others). It doesn't need any special treatment, just make sure BIOS is set to auto detect the hard disc on the relevant IDE channel and set to boot from the DVD drive on the relevant IDE channel.asbo wrote:http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... t=109#p778

comber wrote:does the hdd and dv drive need to be ob same ide cable

They need to be on the same cable, with the hdd on the master plug (usually black) and the cd drive on the slave plug (usually grey). They are other wise denoted by lableig on the cable, usually a 1 and 2

Not for me. In my Dell GX270 they're on separate IDE cables.GhostlyGamer wrote:comber wrote:does the hdd and dv drive need to be ob same ide cable

Re: XboxHDM v1.9 help
I ran in to this before couple years ago. I don't know if I was using v1.9 or not. But the program would run and say it had locked the drive when it hadn't. Turned out my newer computers had some Virus protection built into the PC BIOS the prevented it from writing to the part of the disk that XboxHDM wants to.
So as someone said above, you have to hang on to an older computer that does not have this BIOS feature to be able to continue to use XboxHDM.

Re: XboxHDM v1.9 help
When I lock My Hard Drive I MUST go into the bios and disable the hard drive detection completely for it to work. It actually changes to "NOT INSTALLED". For some reason when it detects the drive in the bios it cannot be locked with my older 2005 PC. Good luck.
