Just trying to test out the latest release. Here's what I've done:
1. Extract the Zip file, search for 'lang' and delete all language folders from five locations outside of 'English' or equivalent.
I do this to trim down the number of files/folders being transferred and have done this for all the builds I've run in the last few years or so. I rename the extracted folder by appending '-en' on the end so the current install folder is \\XBMC4XBOX-32854-en\XBMC\
(reduced from 1154 files, 262 folders, 109MB to 1103 files, 151 folders, 103MB)
2. FTP this folder over to C:
3. Use 'File manager' to copy the following files from previous install:
(I think 'File manager' should be capitalized to 'File Manager' btw, same with 'System info')
- favorites.xml
- guisettings.xml
- passwords.xml
- profiles.xml
- sources.xml
4. I then test the new build by running it from the Programs menu. I then get:
5. XBMC Fatal Error:
XBMC4XBOX-32854 - XBMC Fatal Error

read http://www.xbmc4xbox.org.uk/forum/viewt ... p?f=6&t=65 regarding posting debug logs.
The log you posted was from the build you used to launch the new build, rather than the new build. Removing files from the install is a bad idea too - that is not supported, nor worthwhile.

Deleted the previous folder and re-FTP'd a fresh one across. Made no other file-copies, still same error. Will try an original (non-en) copy.

Re: XBMC4XBOX-32854 - XBMC Fatal Error
FTP'd a fresh folder across, no deletes, no adds and it works! Some tinkering around reveals that I had deleted the 'English' language folder and left the 'English (US)' folder ... but I had the language set to 'English'.
After fixing that error and removing some unwanted skins (PM3.HD, all PAL folders) I've reduces the size a bit more:
Reduced from:
1154 files, 262 folders, 109MB
to:
807 files, 138 folders, 90.3MB
Compressed Zip from 64.9MB to a 7-zip of 46.6MB. Nice!
Everything is running great so far, sorry for the false alarm.
