Recommended Plugins for XBMC4XBOX?

Hey guys, just dropping in to ask for a little help.

I'm searching around for the most widely used/recommended plugins to put on an Xbox. i'm taking an old 1.2/1.3 model and turning it into a Movie & Music streaming box for my parents, and i'd like some suggestions on what i should install. i have XBMC4XBOX 3.3.3 Stable, a 750gb Seagate HDD installed, HD cables, and the DVD playback kit, so they're pretty much good to go on all fronts (besides the plugins).

Also, is there a working Hulu and Youtube Plugin for 3.3.3 out there anywhere? they use Hulu all the time for shows, and they like to just browse youtube so they don't need a working sign in. i'd like to make this a real all-in-one thing for them, and i'm kinda on a budget, which is why i'm giving up one of my old Xboxes.

Keep in mind, i'm from the United States, so plugins that only work for UK/EU users are pretty much pointless.


On a side note, what format should i use for the highest quality videos, and what software would you guys recommend for converting/editing them?

hi mate, as far as i know hulu and youtube both work for usa users but i cant be sure, youtube should work but i think hulu is geo locked to the usa so i cant help there. i dont use it but i know theres a ustv now plugin but it may not still be supported.

also handy to know that now the builds have been updated there closer to mainline than ever before so alot of official plugin now work on the xbox, i recommend updating the xbox build and checking them out thru the addons for xbox installer included.

i see you mentioned you have the hd wires, if you want to transcode media from high bitrate hd to a modest bitrate that the xbox can play then i would very highly recommend buzz's ffmpeg method, i use it all the time and the results are great, if interested i can provide a link to point to the thread.

As a plugin i can recommend TuneIn .Offers almost all genre of music. I use it to listen allectro radio.
it works fine.

thanks for the suggestions guys. and i remember seeing that thread a week or so ago Keith, so thanks for reminding me about it.


also, while i'm at it, does anyone know if it's possible to program XBMC to cycle through Custom Backgrounds at regular intervals? i'm trying to get my Halo edition Xbox to be the ultimate Halo Machine with both games installed, widescreen hex for Halo 1, all DLC maps & modes, Custom Backgrounds from each Multiplayer Level on XBMC (most likely screenshots from Halo 2 Anniversary), Internal Wi-Fi (modded MN-740) and 4 Internal Logitech Wireless Controller Dongles (with a toggle switch on each port in case i need to ever go wired) and the Trusty upgrades, of course.
