evox v 3935 upgrade to xbmc using hexen disc
evox v 3935 upgrade to xbmc using hexen disc
I am trying to use hexen to upgrade to xbmc from evolution x 3935. Could anyone explain each step on accomplishing that?
Im use to modding xboxs with the splinter cell sid 5 installer. all i do is back up the ms and then install xbmc with the installer and im done. This xbox i bought at a yard sale and it was already modded with evo x 3935. I looked at the bottom of the xbox and none of the screws were removed so i know that it wasnt hard modded or tampered with.
Basically im trying to get the xbmc version im used to with the sid 5 installer but coming from a evo x 3935 instead of it being stock ms dashboard.
I burned the latest version of hexen i could find on the internet:
http://theisozone.com/downloads/xbox/to ... bles-edit/
The disc loads up on the xbox just fine, but all the different options... I have no idea which options on the menu to click or what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time.

Re: evox v 3935 upgrade to xbmc using hexen disc
I think you're asking how to use HeXEn to install EvoX as dashboard, and XBMC as an application on your SID softmod XBOX. Is that correct?
If so, I would suggest you re-do your softmod from the start with HeXEn. I have run into errors when I've tried to use HeXEn to change set-up on a SID softmod.
With HeXEn menu displayed select a one-click install of Krayzie or Kingroach from the Softmod menu. As it leads you through the steps you'll be offered the option to use Evox as a dashboard*. When that's all done, install XBMC from the applications menu (and afterwards FTP a more modern build
).
* in any case you can change dashboards later using the Switch Dashboard menu option.

thank you both for your responses. I do want to install xbmc as the main dash, since that's what im used to, but I do really like the sound of the krazy one click install. only wish it was xbmc I was installing and not evox.

Okay, I'm still not quite clear what it is you want to do since the first sentence suggests you don't want an XBMC default dash, and the second suggests the opposite. Either is possible with HeXEn - let me know and I (or indeed several others around here) will be able to advise.singer07 wrote:I do want to install xbmc as the main dash, since that's what im used to, but I do really like the sound of the krazy one click install. only wish it was xbmc I was installing and not evox.
BTW, it's "Krayzie" (the developer of the softmod).

I would like to install xbmc as the main dash. xbmc only. The xbox currently is installed with evox v3935. I bought it this way, previous owner installed evo. I want xbmc.

You can either use one of the installer discs or work out where your dash files are located, add another dash in apps and launch it.
Once in alternate dash (unleashx etc) replace existing dash files with latest XBMC.
This is probably the easiest method but also the one most likely to stuff your dash files so using one of the discs is preferred.

Still not exactly clear what set-up you are ultimately trying to acheive, but anyway the advice is generally applicable...
Yep. As I advised before, start from scratch with Krayzie one-click install from the Softmod menu. Then choose the dashboard you want to boot to, be it Unleashx, EvoX or XBMC from the Dashboard Tools menu.singer07 wrote:...So im really just looking to use this hexen cd to change the dashboard/softmod.

Perhaps it's just a terminology thing. I think you want XBMC to be your default dash, and I've explained how to acheive it. It's just you haven't said so in as many words, your last post is the clearest/closest yet, though
.

Re: evox v 3935 upgrade to xbmc using hexen disc
I went ahead with the krayzie one click install, everything installed correctly but it did not ask me which dash I wanted to install. It just told me that unleashx would be installed. So now I have the blue unleashx main menu screen and on the menu list the first thing on the list says xbmc. When you click xbmc and error message comes up, so im assuming I would use hexen to install that as a secondary dash. Since I just wanted xbmc installed in the first place like unleashx is now, any advice on where I should go from here?

1. Install Applications -> Install XBMC on E
2. Dashboard Tools -> Switch Dashboards -> XBMC
3. Enjoy.

Re: evox v 3935 upgrade to xbmc using hexen disc
Thank you so much, everything worked out great. Its pretty much the same as im used to now. One last thing I wanted to ask is I have about 3gbs of space for emulators/games. I usually have about 4-5gbs when I do the splintercell softmod. Is there anything I can delete using the ftp program to free up more space? Perhaps the unleashx dash if that's still on the xbox somewhere.spicemuseum wrote:1. Install Applications -> Install XBMC on E
