Hello - I hope I didn't screw up my xbox, please let me know what I can do.
I was trying to install the latest stable version of xbmc4xbox but I ftp'd the file over in this folder format - 'xbmc4xbox-3.3.3/xbmc' and I think it should have just been folder 'xbmc' as now when I go to apps it doesn't see anything.
I tried re-connecting to the xbox with filezilla to fix it but I cant seem to connect no matter what I try.
Can someone please let me know how to fix this ?
edit - looks like I just need to download hexen and boot with that disk in - is it that simple to get ftp access again ?
Need help re-installing XBMC

Yes is the answer to that question, but I have a question for you...pumpkinpie wrote:I was trying to install the latest stable version of xbmc4xbox but I ftp'd the file over in this folder format - 'xbmc4xbox-3.3.3/xbmc' and I think it should have just been folder 'xbmc' as now when I go to apps it doesn't see anything.

Nothing you have written above should cause either FTP to stop working, or the existing XBMC4XBOX installation to cease to run. Did you do something else you haven't mentioned? (...for example, did you delete your exiting XBMC folder?)

yes I deleted the existing xbmc4xbox installation which is why I don't have ftp access.
Will try Hexen tonight - thanks !

Re: Need help re-installing XBMC
ok need more help please
I booted my xbox with the disk in and it after awhile it went to a screen that said the xbox needed service.
so I tried booting again and it just went to the modded dash like it usually does.
tried booting a couple more times and it just goes to the modded dash.
any advise on what I should do next ?
I was under the impression it would boot off the hexen disk and I would be able to ftp xbmc back onto the box

Re: Need help re-installing XBMC
XBOX drives are fussy. Different brands (and types) of media tend to work differently with different OEMs of the DVD drive (Philips, LG, Samsung, Thomson).
What type and brand of media did you burn HeXEn onto ?
For info. I have various success with various brands of both DVD-R, CD-RW and CD-R. I keep a wallet of about six different discs - if one doesn't work, usually another will.
...and burning the disc with as slow burn as your PC drive and software supports is helpful to help the XBOX disc reading accuracy. I typically use CDBurnerXP (on my Windows laptop) and use x4 speed to burn.
Of course, there's always the possibility that your XBOX drive may be broken (dead laser?) - do you know for sure that it works? Will it boot a retail game disc?

Re: Need help re-installing XBMC
so I tried burning a new Hexen disk on a dvd-r and still cant get it to work. And yes I tested my dvd drive and it does work.
not sure what else to do, maybe try a cd-r ?
Also the xbox boots into Evolution x dash - doesn't that give you ftp access ? I go into the settings and enable ftp.

Re: Need help re-installing XBMC
Suggests the file structure has disappeared off the hard disc. One possibility is that your hard disc could be failing.
If you have nothing of value stored on it (which you may not be able to recover anyway), and your box is running a modded BIOS on modchip or flashed TSOP, you could try susing HeXEn to rebuild a fresh disc.
